关于客户
Nerve.com is an online dating and content site that has always pushed the envelope with its edgy approach to dating, sex and social issues. In 2011, the company decided to continue pushing the envelope by building an entirely new type of dating app that used social content and conversations to more closely mimic dating interactions in the physical world. The company is based in New York, NY and has a small development team. They wanted to concentrate their development and tech work on building apps and did not have any dedicated systems administration specialists nor did they want any.
挑战
Nerve.com, an online dating and content site, wanted to build a new type of dating app that used social content and conversations to mimic dating interactions in the physical world. They planned to use the latest web app technologies, using a Nodestack deployment of Node.js application servers and MongoDB databases. However, they wanted to remain focused on building apps and not waste time maintaining and administering databases, application servers and hardware. They didn't have any dedicated systems administration specialists nor did they want any. Data reliability and security were paramount for the site. The real-time nature of interactions on social.nerve.com required instantaneous response times from both the database and the application server to keep users happy. To maintain both performance and reliability would require excellent support and uptime.
解决方案
Nerve deployed social.nerve.com with a Node.js appliance running SmartOS on the Joyent Cloud and MongoLab’s MongoDB-as-a-Service platform. The Nodestack combination allowed Nerve to deploy a full development environment quickly and then convert seamlessly into a production environment that can scale effortlessly and automatically. Nerve was able to attain these benefits without requiring significant DevOps investments and while achieving higher uptime and reliability than they could by running their infrastructure themselves. On Joyent, the Nerve team was able to stand up and configure its Node.js application systems without any difficulties. After exploring MongoLab and testing the service, Nerve moved its primary data storage for social.nerve.com onto the MongoLab service.

Improving Vending Machine Profitability with the Internet of Things (IoT)
The vending industry is undergoing a sea change, taking advantage of new technologies to go beyond just delivering snacks to creating a new retail location. Intelligent vending machines can be found in many public locations as well as company facilities, selling different types of goods and services, including even computer accessories, gold bars, tickets, and office supplies. With increasing sophistication, they may also provide time- and location-based data pertaining to sales, inventory, and customer preferences. But at the end of the day, vending machine operators know greater profitability is driven by higher sales and lower operating costs.

Revolutionizing Rodent Control
From pet- and child-safe traps, to touch-free and live-catch rodent control solutions, Victor continues to stay committed to producing superior products that meet the varying needs of today’s pest control professionals. And, with a long standing history supporting customers in the food processing, service, and retail settings, Victor knew that strict regulations were costing organizations thousands of dollars in excess overhead trying to manage their rodent-control solutions. Trap inspections in these environments are often difficult and time consuming, requiring personnel to manually check a trap’s status multiple times per day, amounting to over six hours of manual labor. Victor is looking for an innovative way to increase operational efficiencies with the use of technology.
