GSL Smart Lab Uses the LAP Mentor for Superior Training
As clinical medicine is becoming focused more on patient safety and the quality of care, medical simulation has been proposed as a means to bridge the educational gap between the classroom and the clinical environment.Dr. Ganni (the director of the GSL SMART Lab (Simulated Modules for Advanced Research and Training Laboratory) in India) was interested in a new age high fidelity simulator that could provide basic surgical and suturing skills training for international accreditation as well as specific hands-on training in complex laparoscopic procedures for practicing physicians in India. Equally important was a means of measuring the acquirement of those skills before the trainee actually performed those procedures in the OR.

RobotiX Mentor Plays Key Role in Successful Training of Surgical Residents
Due to the increased awareness of the safety and rights of patients, quickly evolving technology, and the standardization of health care provision worldwide, a 3-phase approach for the training of surgical techniques has been widely established to include the following:Cognitive, theoretical phase.Simulation phase to acquire proficiency in targeted surgical abilities and confidence with new technology.Operating theater where pre-defined modular steps of the surgery are performed according to levels of difficulty. The Fundacio Puigvert saw the need for virtual reality simulation in their residency and postgraduate training programs. They decided to establish a virtual reality simulation lab to include endourological, laparoscopic, and robotic platforms

High Density Stacking Capability Drives Productivity in End-Use 3D Part Producti
Sporting goods retailer seeks to avoid expense of tooling by validating high-speed Figure 4 solution with new 3D Sprint stacked printing feature as the best option to produce safety glasses components. When faced with a mold injection problem on a small component for shooting glasses that connects the frame to the lenses, Decathlon opted to test the new 3D stacking solution developed by 3D Systems to evaluate additive manufacturing for production. After conducting a feasibility study on the Figure 4 solution and stacking feature, Decathlon’s teams confirmed the productivity and economics of additive manufacturing and decided that this solution could be considered for batch-run production of the final product.
