About The Customer
Juwai.com is an online marketplace that connects Chinese consumers with international properties listed by local real estate agents, brokers, and developers in 89 countries. The platform features over 2.5 million properties from around the world, primarily in the US, Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia. Thousands of interactions occur daily between Juwai.com, real estate agents, and potential buyers. The company deals with a vast amount of data from multiple sources, generated at a rapid rate. This data includes user interactions with the website, such as frequently searched and viewed properties. As the business grew, the volume of data became too large to manage effectively using traditional tools like Excel and internal scripting.
The Challenge
Juwai.com faced significant challenges in managing and processing their multilingual big data. They used multiple data sources in both Roman and Chinese scripts, and their datasets contained billions of rows. Processing such large datasets with Excel and internal scripting was intensely difficult, leading to manual reports generated by IT that were often out of date. The company needed more flexible and timely reporting to keep up with real-time developments. Additionally, manually adding data led to human errors and inconsistencies, which could only be dealt with reactively. The reliance on IT for report generation also placed a heavy burden on the department, further slowing down the process.
The Solution
Juwai.com chose Sisense as their BI solution to address their data management challenges. Sisense was the only platform that could efficiently process the hundreds of millions of rows of data generated weekly from multiple sources, all within their budget. The implementation of Sisense allowed Juwai.com to consolidate their scattered data into a single source of comprehensive information. The technology and data teams pulled all their data into Elasticubes, which are updated as frequently as every ten minutes, providing real-time information and insights. This enabled the company to combine different data sources with ease, control for inaccuracies and inconsistencies, and set up BI dashboards for various stakeholders. Different departments benefited from this solution in various ways. Upper management gained a bird’s-eye view of the company’s overall performance, the finance team could generate reports instantly, the PR department uncovered market and buyer behavior insights, IT monitored listings and real estate agents more effectively, the sales team used data to track buyer interest, and the marketing and product development teams created real-time maps visualizing user interest.
