Indian Engineering Institute CoEP's CAE Optimization Center Employs Altair HyperWorks

The College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP), established in 1854, is a nationally respected leader in technical education. The institute sets itself apart through its commitment to finding solutions to today's challenges through advanced technology. CoEP has a rich history and is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence. The institute's education is characterized by its strong and widespread alumni network, industry support, and close partnerships with several foreign universities. Consistently ranked among the top 15 technical colleges in India, CoEP's alumni have significantly contributed to the development of national infrastructure.

The College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) recognized the need to keep pace with the rapidly evolving field of engineering innovation. The institute understood that to maintain its national ranking and provide its students with the best career opportunities, it needed to align its education with the latest industry technologies. The challenge was to create an environment where both teachers and students could leverage state-of-the-art engineering technologies to meet contemporary market requirements. To achieve this, CoEP established the CAE-Optimization Lab. The next challenge was to decide which tools would best meet the center's needs while ensuring the lab's self-sustaining operation.

In 2011, CoEP, in association with Altair Engineering and DesignTech Systems, established the 'Center of Excellence for CAE- Optimization'. The center was designed to conduct research for thesis papers and PhDs, provide consultancy and product design optimization, and offer analysis services to R&D departments of companies in product design and engineering. The center also aimed to offer training to working professionals, undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students. The center utilized the latest technologies from Altair in product design, optimization, and analysis, including HyperMesh, RADIOSS, OptiStruct, and HyperStudy. The center was designed to be self-sustaining, educating students on cutting-edge technologies, assisting the industry, and aiding research students and PhD aspirants. Dr. V. K. Tripathi, the coordinator for the Center of Excellence at CoEP, introduced many different HyperWorks courses for students and working professionals.

• The establishment of the CoEP and Altair Center of Excellence has empowered students, faculties, and researchers to work on innovative ideas. It has encouraged them to experiment with new concepts and conduct complex analyses, inspiring students to showcase their talents in several national and international contests. Assistant researchers have been able to conduct conclusive and result-oriented research work, published in reputed journals and presented at national and international forums. The center has also helped to significantly increase the quality of student projects, improve company placements, establish a foundation for better industry collaboration, generate revenue through additional evening training programs, and develop student interest in product design optimization technologies.
