About The Customer

Evonik Industries AG, headquartered in the German city of Essen, is a listed company in specialty chemicals. The company realizes more than 80 percent of its chemical turnover from leading market positions.

The Challenge

Evonik was planning to construct a new methionine-6 plant and was looking at ways to more efficiently go through this process and make sure it's integrated with their existing online data management infrastructure.

The Solution

Evonik used a digital twin for steel construction, completely from the conceptual engineering until construction for their new plant in Singapore. They implemented their asset data lifecycle into the tools and were able to implement a digital twin in one and a half months.

The process became much more efficient, meaning less engineering, higher quality and lower costs in construction.

Operational Impact
  • [Cost Reduction - Capital Investment]

Using a digital twin from the conceptual stage until final construction helped Evonik simulate and validate decisions regarding the design of their plant with minimal investment.

Quantitative Benefit
  • Evonik was able to reduce costs of their new plant by $4 million.
