Anduril is a defense technology company that is revolutionizing the way defense companies do business. They use rapid prototyping to create custom skews of core product platforms for a wide range of customers. With several core product platforms commercially available and many more in development, Anduril is constantly innovating and evolving. Speed to market is a critical factor for the company, and they are quick to seize on any advantage in a competitive marketplace. They are at the forefront of adopting new technologies, such as rapid prototyping, soft tooling, and 3D printing, to enhance their product development process.
Defense technology company, Anduril, was facing a significant documentation challenge. With several core product platforms commercially available and many more in development, the company was struggling to keep its documentation up-to-date. The traditional method of using flat PDF documents with screenshots from CAD software was becoming obsolete as products evolved. Moreover, the creation of these documents was dependent on mechanical engineers, leading to bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the process. This outdated method of documentation was causing delays and resulting in stale data. Additionally, the company's business development representatives were limited in their ability to respond to product questions and requests from customers due to the restrictive nature of flat documents and screenshots.
Anduril deployed Canvas Envision to address these challenges. This tool allows teams across the organization to use real CAD models to create interactive visual assets. These assets can be rapidly customized to a specific audience, ensuring that the data is always up-to-date. With Envision, everyone from engineers to business development reps can easily create documents that visualize the latest 3D CAD models, eliminating delays in document creation and the issue of stale data. For the sales and business development teams, Envision provides the ability to show customers and prospects the entire picture by letting them pop 3D product models out of their sales documents and manipulate them. Furthermore, with .evdocs published to the cloud, customers and prospects can interact with product models themselves, viewing models from any angle and even isolating or hiding individual components.
